What makes this team unique?

We come from the non-profit world!

What does this mean?

This means we have spent our entire careers trying to 'work ourselves out of a job'!  In the non-profit sector, working with a client 'for life' is simply not an option due to the finite resources in the community.

Okay... so what?

Our team is exceptionally skilled at co-creating treatment plans with those we serve to actually produce results.  Our goals are your goals and we work very hard alongside you to help you reach them.

What if my goals change or I have a new goal?

We are also really good at 'meeting people where they are at'.  If your goals change we can support you with a plan for treatment that will get you there.  If you have a new goal you want to work on we will help you with a new plan for your new goal.

You're not going to rush me, are you?

Of course not... but we want you to know we're not programmed to keep clients (and their money) forever!

What else do I need to know?

If reaching your goals requires skills that we know someone else can serve you better we will make that connection for you.  We do it all the time in the non-profit world because we know how precious your time and resources are.

What is the process for starting therapy?

Everyone's journey is different. However our typical process is as follows:

Step 1:  Consultation

This is a free 15 minute appointment by telephone to discuss your current needs, get to know your therapist, and any administrative questions can be answered.

Step 2:  Initial Assessment

This is a 90 minute appointment for your therapist to get to know you on a deeper level, clarify your goals for therapy, and develop a plan moving forward.  We normally recommend scheduling your ongoing sessions for the future during this appointment to ensure you have dedicated time for this important work.

Step 3:  Ongoing Sessions

This is where transformation happens!  You and your therapist will meet at a frequency that works well for you to work toward your goals, re-evaluate and pivot as necessary, and ensure you have the support you need on your journey.

A Therapist Near Me

There are so many benefits to virtual therapy... This is why our team is able to serve the province of Ontario!

Virtual therapy, also known as online therapy or teletherapy, offers several benefits:

  1. Accessibility: Virtual therapy breaks down barriers to access mental health care. It allows individuals to connect with therapists regardless of their geographical location. This is particularly beneficial for those living in rural or remote areas where mental health services might be scarce.

  2. Convenience: Online therapy offers greater convenience as it eliminates the need for commuting to a therapist's office. Clients can attend therapy sessions from the comfort of their own home or any location with internet access. This can save time and reduce stress associated with travel.

  3. Flexibility: Virtual therapy often provides more flexibility in scheduling appointments. Clients have the option to choose appointment times that best fit their schedule, including evenings or weekends, which may not be possible with traditional in-person therapy.

  4. Anonymity and Privacy: Some individuals may feel more comfortable discussing sensitive topics or emotions in the privacy of their own space. Virtual therapy allows for greater anonymity compared to in-person therapy, which can help reduce feelings of self-consciousness or stigma associated with seeking help.

  5. Cost-Effectiveness: Online therapy may be more cost-effective for both clients and therapists. Clients can save money on transportation costs, and therapists may have lower overhead expenses associated with maintaining a physical office space. This makes it more realistic for therapists to offer a sliding-scale fee for their services!

  6. Increased Options for Therapist Selection: Virtual therapy provides access to a wider pool of therapists with diverse backgrounds, specialties, and expertise. Clients have the opportunity to choose a therapist who best meets their individual needs and preferences, regardless of their location.

  7. Continuity of Care: Virtual therapy can ensure continuity of care for individuals who may have difficulty attending in-person sessions due to travel, illness, or other obligations. This consistency in therapy can help maintain progress and support ongoing mental health needs.

Overall, virtual therapy offers numerous benefits that make mental health care more accessible, convenient, and effective for a diverse range of individuals.
